Southern California Trip

Los Angeles, CA

November 22-23, 2008

Saw this short 747-M at Sky Harbor before we took off.  This is quite different as it is only 2/3 the length of a normal 747.  I can only imagine how opulent the inside is.  This plane is not uncommon in Phoenix.

tempe from the air
This is Tempe from 10,000 feet.  Tempe Town lake at the top of the picture.  ASU, Sundevil Stadium, Gammage, and Karsten Golf Course are clearly visible.

Hiking in the hills
We had a mostly beautiful day hiking a fire road in the hills north of Montrose on the very northern edge of Los Angeles.

Robert pointing
Robert is pointing out that he wants his house to right about there but he will only pay $45,000 for the property.  What a dreamer.  It is a great view of the valley.

winners and loser
The five of us had a fun evening playing poker.  Robert was first out and is doom to care for Bob Cash's clothes.  Mike was second place and winner of the "Chico and the Man" DVD.  Steve took us all to the bank and won money for dinner.

fullerton station
The next day we cruised around Fullerton for a while.  This is the Fullerton Amtrak Station.  There is a pedestrian bridge over the tracks.  While in the desert I do not get a chance to see the top of a train very often.  This is the top of a double stacked freight train.

jeff drinking wine
We flew out of the John Wayne Airport in Orange County.  That is a fun airport.  We didn't get the speech before take off but it was still fun.  I needed just a little wine to settle my nerves after take off.
